Uranerz Treasury Increases to $47 Million from Exercised Warrants

Casper, Wyoming, March 2, 2011 - Uranerz Energy Corporation ("Uranerz" or the "Company") (NYSE Amex and TSX: URZ; Frankfurt: U9E) is pleased to announce that 3,947,821 share purchase warrants of the Company were exercised prior to the accelerated expiry date of February 25, 2011. Uranerz now has over $47 million in its treasury, with no debt and 75,605,474 shares outstanding. The Company is well-positioned to begin construction of its Nichols Ranch ISR Uranium Project pending receipt of the final Materials License.

The final Materials License from the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission ("NRC") is the last authorization needed before on-site construction can commence on the Nichols Ranch ISR Uranium Project. Once the Materials License is issued, the Company plans to commence development of its first ISR uranium mine in Wyoming.

The Nichols Ranch ISR Uranium Project

The Company's Nichols Ranch ISR Uranium Project initially comprises two mining properties, the Nichols Ranch Unit and the Hank Unit. The mine plan for the Nichols Ranch ISR Uranium Project includes a central processing facility at the Company's Nichols Ranch property, which is being permitted for a licensed capacity of two million pounds of uranium per year. The central processing facility will be designed to process uranium-bearing well field solutions from Nichols Ranch and uranium-loaded ion exchange resin from additional satellite deposits which are intended to be developed on the Company's other Powder River Basin properties. The Company is currently preparing the permit application for its planned third ISR uranium mining unit in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, named Jane Dough.

Uranerz has over thirty projects within the Powder River Basin and is continuing to acquire additional projects in the same region. The Company has recently staked an additional 20 federal mineral mining claims on targets believed to be highly prospective for uranium deposition. These targets were identified by analysis of previous drilling and general knowledge of the geology, chemical reduction/oxidation fronts and the depositional sandstone systems in this area.

(TSX: OSU) Orsu Metals - Orsu Drill Results Confirm High Grade Single Lode At Karchiga

As part of ongoing Definitive Feasibility Study, Orsu Metals (TSX: OSU) has received all assay results for its 2010 infill drilling programme in the North East lode at its Karchiga deposit in Kazakhstan.

Infill drilling is a double edged sword, as there is always a danger it will reveal that the original assay results were anomalies.

Orsu's infill program indicates the opposite. The deposit is wider and richer than their original scoping study had suggested.

Selected drill results demonstrate that the copper sulphide mineralisation in the North East constitutes a single lode.

Orsu's Karchiga Cu deposit is located within the Vavilon-Karchiga zone of the northwest striking, mid-Palaeozoic, Rudny Altai VMS belt, which is ranked in the top four Volcanogenic Massive Sulfide (VMS) belts of the world.

VMS are relatively rare geological formations that contain rich lodes of Copper, Zinc, Gold and Silver. They typically occur in lens-like or tabular bodies parallel to the volcanic bedding. A single VMS deposit can be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

Prior to the Company's 2010 infill drilling programme, the North East lode showed an absence of oxide material and was interpreted as consisting of three separate ore zones. One of these zones had been classified as indicated and the other two as inferred.

The 2010 infill drilling program, which consisted of 40 diamond drill holes (3,876 m), was focussed on up-grading the inferred mineral resources of the North East lode to the indicated category.

The 2010 mineral resource estimate showed that the mineralisation in the North East lode was located within three shallow-dipping zones. The latest drilling demonstrates that there is continuity between these lenses and in fact they form a single lode with a strike length of about 1 km.

Resource modeling incorporating the new data is currently in progress as well as upgrading the resource from indicated to inferred, there is a possibility that the overall mineral resource tonnage will also be increased.

The good news for Orsu doesn't end there. According to the World Bank study, Doing Business 2010, Kazakhstan currently has the most improved business regulation in the entire world.

A landlocked country bordered by China and Russia, early indications show that Kazakhstan has the potential for trillions of dollars of metal in the ground.

So far, China has agreed to investments of $13 billion, with South Korea ($5 billion), Russia ($3 billion), and France ($2 billion) also investing heavily.

Sergey Kurzin, Executive Chairman of Orsu Metals, is a Russian-born international mine builder and deal maker. A member of Doug Casey's exclusive "Explorer's League", Kurzin has been operating successfully in Kazakhstan for 20 years.

Kurzin played a key role in establishing UrAsia Energy, a uranium producer with mining operations in Kazakhstan that sold to Uranium One in 2007 for $3.1 billion.

"Kazakhstan has advanced legislation," explained Kurzin in a recent interview, "If you have a contract with the government, and if they change legislation, your document prevails."

Data modelling is currently underway at Orsu. An updated NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate is expected in Q1 2011, along with results of a metallurgical study. These studies will form a solid basis for the ongoing work program to deliver the Definitive Feasibility Study for Karchiga by Q4 2011.

Orsu is currently trading at $0.295, with a market cap of only $46.5 million. With the infill drilling program confirming a rich kilometer-wide vein of gold and copper, the stock is a candidate for an aggressive turnaround. More at OrsuMetals.com .

(Amex/TSX: URZ) Uranerz Energy - Imminent Final Permit To Commence Construction Of WY, USA Uranium Mine

Uranerz Energy Corporation (Amex/TSX: URZ) (Frankfurt: U9E) is a company in transition. In addition to active uranium exploration and property acquisition programs in the Powder River Basin of Wyoming, USA, the company is now on the cusp of joining a select group of uranium companies worldwide that can call themselves producers.

The timing couldn't be better to be part of this elite group. In 2007 uranium prices topped out at $137/lb. Then after bottoming at around $40/lb. in 2009 with the rest of the market, uranium prices have since been trending higher again. Yellowcake U308 currently trades at $72.50/lb. and a recent report expects long-term prices to average $85/lb.

This Feb. 9, 2011 equity research report by Dahlman Rose & Co. entitled "Increasing Production Provides Attractive Leverage to Spot Uranium" initiated coverage of Uranerz Energy. The report anticipates the company having its last permit in hand over the near-term, and should be ready to commence construction activity soon - as URZ catalysts.

Wyoming is the top U.S. uranium producing state and is a cost effective, safe and friendly jurisdiction to mine uranium compared to some far away lands. U.S. demand is expected to grow under the current administration, as is worldwide demand projected at 200 million pounds annually by the end of this decade.

In Wyoming there are two major permits / licenses required before starting an In-Situ Recovery (ISR) mine to produce uranium:
  1. Federal Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Source Material License
  2. Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality (WDEQ) Permit to Mine

Management has done an excellent job navigating the complicated permitting process in an efficient and timely manner. On January 4, 2011 the company announced receiving state approval of one of the first new commercial uranium Permits to Mine issued by the WDEQ in almost 20 years.

The approval status of the final NRC Source Material License is expected very soon, a matter of weeks to any day now!

For more on permit related announcements, read the following URZ news releases:

If / when URZ receives this final NRC SML permit, they are expected to break ground around a month later. Construction of the Nichols Ranch ISR Mine is budgeted to cost $35 million, which is less than the company already has in its treasury.

ISR uranium production is currently scheduled to commence mid 2012 and ramp up from there as feedstock from URZ's other properties becomes available. Uranerz is permitting its central processing plant for annual production capacity of 2 million pounds annually.

Nichols Ranch is only the first of 30 uranium projects Uranerz can draw from in the Powder River Basin Wyoming. The company has had significant success increasing its resources through exploration, going from less than two million pounds in 2007 to nearly 20 million pounds measured, indicated and inferred in 2010.

more information and cautionary note

We anticipate further drill campaigns, and look forward to more 43-101 uranium resource updates this year.

And don't forget Uranerz is sitting on $36 million currently, with no debt, plus up to another $12.7 million expected shortly via the accelerated exercise of warrants announced January 26, 2011. I wouldn't be surprised if several uranium property acquisition deals were already in the works to further ramp-up resources.

Then again, why even use cash! The Analyst tab on our Uranerz Energy Stock Research Portal shows a consensus rating for URZ as a Strong Buy ranked 23 out of 110 in its industry. The company's stock has outperformed over the past three months, with URZ up 141% compared to its peer group rise of 65%.

Having a strong stock is surely an attractive bargaining chip; an alternative currency to woo attractive property deals. For that matter, with Uranerz expecting a working mine in a year or so, this especially might be very attractive to uranium resource owners.

The point is that deals can happen in many forms for cash, stock, royalties or any combination of buyout, merger or partnership. Uranerz now has the means and we look forward to property acquisition and other types of deals to grow their resource base and mine life.

Now that Uranerz appears ready to join the exclusive uranium producers club, how are other uranium producers doing? The market currently values Uranerz at $370 million, with the uranium producers below having market caps ranging from $1.5 billion to over $260 billion.

Direct comparison cannot be made as every situation is different and these companies have established operations, including production of other types of resources. However Uranerz does seem to have blue-sky potential as the newest company on the uranium producers' block.
